‘Undenting’ our Identity
When we're secure
in who Christ created us
to be,
it becomes more difficult to get a dent in our identity
from others’ opinions of us...
Hard-hearted hardness and harshness towards us
may make indentations, notches or nicks
scarring the outer layer of our lives
but doesn’t dent our identities
and infiltrate the depth of who were are…
We can stop side-stepping situations
that we have become well-practiced in
once we identify where our identity
comes from
or more accurately
Who
our identity comes from
and then it’s easier be free to be who we are
and live in freedom
celebrating Who our Creator created us to be.
Our true identity
He gave us from before birth,
not a ‘lying label’ slapped on our lives carelessly
by someone else’s insecurities…
I read a powerful quote that stated
‘my freedom does not end where another’s fear begins’…
and this week I had a revelation,
realising what I had felt all along…
We were wired for love and kindness
by our Creator Who loves us with His loving-kindness
even though there are those
who would like to put themselves in His place
convincing us that we deserve only the opposite
if we allow them to
with their convincing criticism.
Someone said that we were created for contentment
and I loved her statement
perhaps because
I have pandered to people in my past
to keep the peace
but their behaviour brought me no peace,
so I trust Holy Spirit to help me
to walk in wisdom in this world
that is covered in deep dents.

This was a confirmation all in the same week with one of our pastors, Hannah having the same message the Sunday.
