Really Resting

After all these years of living,
I still haven't quite managed to master the art of relaxing
very well,
but Jesus, You're teaching me
to rest in You
to rest in Your Peace
that passes all my understanding
especially on days where anxious thoughts are abrupt as they attempt to stampede
all over this peace You have gifted to me, as Your child.
-My priceless inheritance!

May I more readily learn to rest than to relax
because resting in You
I can do whether I'm awake or asleep...
So secure in the peace You promise
for daily living
in living this life You have gifted to me.
