Barnabas and Barabbas

I was thinking how these two names sound so similar
but the difference between Barnabas and Barabbas
is poles apart in the way they lived their lives
as reflected and recorded in the timeless words of the Word.
Makes me wonder what my story would look like
if it was permanently set in cement on the pages
of an eternal book?
Would I be classified as a murderer in my middle class life
with thoughts that no one but God sees
of envy and hate
or would my life be highlighted as a woman of encouragement
who helps lift the load of fellow travellers on the road predestined for me?
I know who Brenda would want to be
but being a Barnabas or Barabbas boils down to choices...

-Choosing is underrated.
