God’s Grace
There were three crosses on Calvary’s hill
that day…
The centre one
held the King of kings….
-sinless man.
On either side of him
-sinful men.
The robber on the right recognized his unrighteousness
and asked to be remembered
when Jesus entered His Kingdom
and the King of this Kingdom
answered
with His word
‘I assure you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.’*
That to me, is the greatest illustration of God’s grace.
The thief
could not climb off the cross
and
-earn his salvation with a multitude of good works
-undo what he had done and do life differently
-make amends
-try harder
-sow good seeds so he could reap good…
He was entirely at God’s mercy
and so are we.
We know that we cannot ‘save’ ourselves.
Yet sadly, I have often caught myself
trying to save myself
and attempting to pay the debt I am unable to ever repay
-even expecting others to do the same.
Thankfully, believing Jesus
like the robber did that day,
is all we require
to be FREE!
It makes no sense to try to pay for something
That has already been paid
for in full.
