What does Bravery look like?

Do love and bravery
-walk hand in hand?
-stand and fight side by side?

Love compels us to step out of safety
onto stormy seas
-not just to get our feet wet
but to walk on waves!
Not giving saving our skin, a second thought ….
-to step on those trembling thoughts
that would like to keep us
tied to a dry deck.

To press in
To press on
Even at the risk of rejection
Even when we have to dodge
sharp words from our wounded world
To recognize that
those monsters in our minds
chain us to illusions of surety of security.

There is no badge big enough to contain bravery
No metal medal pinned onto our chests would suffice,
because there are brave people who will never receive one of those….

Bravery’s flag flies free forever
for it lives in the heart of a subject
who is part of a Kingdom that cannot be shaken!
