The Warmth of Wood
surrounds me in our home and warms my heart…
-somehow it feels like it’s still living…
the soothing smell of sawdust transporting me to
woods with tall trees towering above
as I inhale pine trees’ scent
making me feel close and connected
to two carpenters;
my Dad
and
my Saviour
both our earthly fathers had the same profession.
Jesus
was a carpenter’s son
and
I am a carpenter’s daughter…

I loved it when my Dad came home from work and I came up close to him and I distinctly remember the soothing smell of sawdust on his skin… I remember watching him work in his workshop while he whistled, as well .... how he had a pencil tucked into the fold of his upper ear as he created the most amazing woodwork or fixed whatever needed fixing. He took such pride in his work and each and every item was a masterpiece... [much the same as my husband, Phil's Ma's clothing she created, one could literally wear inside out because she was such an amazing seamstress]
I still have the little shelf that he made that I treasure to this day. Wood warms my heart... I love my Daddy and on his birthday today, I celebrate his life and the incredible man and dad he was.
I miss you Dadxx
