Do Not Be Afraid

Daily,
fighting fears of the future,
I find that I have to deliberately keep my eyes
focused like flint on Your Faithfulness, Father
-Your faultless faithfulness throughout my history
-Your History, perfect in provision and protection
for me
and our family.
You lasso my thoughts
with Your words You spoke
to so many others before me.
‘DO NOT BE AFRAID’
and at this time,
I reflect on some of these Scriptures concerning Christ’s birth and life,
hoping that they will be of great encouragement and comfort to others…

Luke 1 vs 13 – But the angel said to him: ‘Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.’
Luke 1 vs 30 – But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God.’
Matthew 1 vs 20 – …but after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream
and said ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.’
Luke 2 vs 10 – But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.’ [this was to the shepherds]
Luke 12 vs 32 – ‘Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the Kingdom.’
Luke 12 vs 7 – Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Luke 8 vs 50 – Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.’
John 12 vs 15 – ‘Do not be afraid, Daughter of Zion; see, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt’
Matthew 28 vs 5 – The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.’
Matthew 28 vs 10 – Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see Me.’
John 6 vs 20 – But He said to them, ‘It is I; don’t be afraid.’
Matthew 14 vs 27 – But Jesus immediately said to them: ‘Take courage! It is I, don’t be afraid.’
Mark 6 vs 50 – because they all saw Him and were terrified. Immediately He spoke to them and said, ‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’
Mark 5 vs 36 – Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid;
just believe.’
John 14 vs 27 – Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

He laid a firm foundation for us to build our faith on
way back in the Old Testament already…
Deuteronomy 31 vs 8 -“He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

May we not be afraid.
