Betrayal
Jesus,
how did you feel when your ‘friend’ betrayed You?
did You, like me,
with someone I allowed access into my life,
want to believe his intentions were pure?
-that there had been some form of miscommunication, misunderstanding or mistake made?
Then all of a sudden
when you realised the reality of the situation,
did You wrestle with their wrongdoing
wanting to make it right
again?
Did you repeatedly re-enact the scenario in the garden?
after all
it was a kiss
and
a kiss speaks of intimacy and the very least friendship….
-perhaps being ‘stabbed in the back’ would have been easier to accept
than being stabbed in the heart….
To further drive the nail in
Betrayal held Denial’s hand
and as the cock crowed three times
- the cold kiss hung in the air
- silver spilled
- more than one heart bled….
I have come to realise that
Your battle was not against flesh and blood
and neither is mine.
However, hurting hearts take a little longer to mend than wounds to the flesh.
