Betrayed by a Kiss

How can I speak of rejection, my Lord?
and loneliness?
When You walked the road to Calvary
You were alone
besides a handful of faithful followers
-that’s how I feel at the moment
but when I put things in perspective
I know that the suffering in Your soul
far outweighs my own suffering.

If You had focused on betrayal
we would have all been in trouble.
-You could have climbed off that cross
at any time…

How humiliating
for You to have gone through
such excruciating pain and the shame
but because
You knew who You are
You could hold onto Your Father
-when feeling abandonment
You abandoned Yourself into His arms…

The example set
I choose to do the same.
-my pain blurs in the light of Yours.
Into Your Hands I commit myself.

Victory will come. I know.
