Picture the Pain

as Jesus was chosen to be crucified
instead of a murderer
a Life so perfect, a Life so pure
-as flesh is ripped from His back
-as the whip came down
-as sharp thorns pierced His head
from the 'royal' crown.
-as He staggered beneath the cross
-depleted of energy - too heavy to bear
screamed at and spat on
by people who didn't care
-as the hammer was lifted and hit its blow
people cheering for the 'live-show'
-as He hung nearly naked upon the tree
for all the people to see.
-as the spear was thrust into His side
at His feet the mourning women cried
-as His precious blood ran down His face
He asked His Father to forgive the human race
then with one last breath the pain came to an end
and He did this all for us, my friend.
