In Spite Of …

I wonder whether I sound a lot like John the Baptist
at times
when he asked Jesus’ disciples to ask Him
‘Are You the One?’
-are You the One Who will rescue us from unrighteousness?
-are You the One Who will save us in the storm?
-are You the One? …

The reality is that
doubts can make us doubt God’s goodness
when we feel devastated and disappointed,
so when the enemy attempts to derail me
I have to keep trusting God’s promises to me, personally
and that His plans and purposes will prevail
in spite of
in spite of me
in spite of others
in spite of the situation
and deep down I know that despite
what I see surrounding me
Heaven’s Armies will become visible
when eyes are opened.

By God’s grace I will be not be disgraced
as He shines His light on the dark moments
on the time-line of our lives with GREAT love
that leans towards us
taking us into His arms embracing us in His everlasting love
-this limitless love
that extends into eternity.

Abba, I feel Your nearness to my heart
giving me the gift of hope.

Matthew 11 vs 3 – 6

John, meanwhile, had been locked up in prison. When he got wind of what Jesus was doing, he sent his own disciples to ask, “Are you the One we’ve been expecting, or are we still waiting?”
Jesus told them, “Go back and tell John what’s going on:
The blind see,
The lame walk,
Lepers are cleansed,
The deaf hear,
The dead are raised,
The wretched of the earth learn that God is on their side.
