The Seriousness of Surrender

There is no such thing as
superficial surrender
to our Saviour...
-no half hearted
promises proclaiming His Lordship over our lives...
surrendering step by step to sanctification
takes sacrifice.

I am corrupt to the core
my heart eternally wicked
and to walk with You in a depth I'm about to discover
I cannot 'put on' purity,
I need to be pure.
What is permissible to ordinary men
cannot be permissible to me
to be free
and walk in freedom.

I have to die to self;
selfishness and self-pity,
not in a self-righteous way
but be genuine in my surrender
to the One Who knows ALL hearts…
Who knows my heart.
Only You can turn my heart of stone into a heart of flesh
so that it beats entirely for You.
