AWE-INSPIRING AUTUMN!

Autumn gold glows
through the green foliage of the forest ferns
-deep dark greens
partially painted in golden dust dancing in the afternoon light…

Gems hidden in the depths
of the treasure chest
of an amazing Autumn afternoon
that touches our souls
with an inspiration
to explore more
of the beauty hidden beneath
the canopy covering us of the forest-green umbrellas
before we cross a stream on slippery stepping stones
to the waterfall walk
thunderous bursts free-falling as it spills over the side
of the cliff covered by a sheer veil of strips of delicate misty lace
gliding gracefully
then plunging into the pool below
where girls in bikinis brave the cold
becoming blue.

After the rocks became too hard to be cushions
and our personal photographer finished taking his photos,
we strolled back along a single singing stream
listening to the songs it sang…
I watched a white feather floating from above
in slow-motion and gently glide on the surface of the water
resting its thin spine with flicks of feathers on the wet glossy glass
before we went to walk on a beach with black sand
-our shoes sinking in the soft spongy sea sand
reminding me of when one watches wet tar
melting in the heat of the hot summer sun!

Our son bought me a ‘nice block’
-a healthier version of an ice block
as we sat sucking the last sip of sweetness from the day
- a day to store in the treasure chests of our hearts
- always
- the afterglow of an autumn afternoon.
