Living Like Little Children
I find as I watch my grandchildren play during the day, that they live so much in the present moment, totally unaffected by this strange season we find ourselves in that has never happened before in History where a pandemic has pounced on us!…the somberness in society surrounding us as we line up two metres apart waiting to be allowed to be let into shops to do our shopping that we could just stop and slip in for something speedily before on our way home from work, now takes time … where ‘normal’ seems like so long ago that we don’t even remember what ‘normal’ looked like as we watch the news and see the pandemonium that this pandemic is causing the paramedics and hospital staff all around the world! People are talking about a ‘new normal’ but none of us know what that will look like either, so we are forced to take a day at a time
not knowing.
I can understand how Jesus encouraged us to be like little children and have the faith of a child. Their faith is so unblemished, so pure… as they play day to day, they have not a care in the world. There are no worries keeping them awake at night as they totally trust their parents to protect them and provide for them. That is the type of faith Jesus is talking about- child-like faith like theirs totally trusting our Heavenly Father like He did with the outcome of our lives.
The outcome of His life looked like defeat at one moment but the very next it showcased the greatest victory in History!
I think I especially love the fact that Jesus encouraged the children to come to Him when the disciples tried to stop them believing that Jesus had ‘more important’ business to attend to with adults.
There are times that we forget that children are people even though they are little people.
When I call my grandchildren to come to me and they come for cuddles, I know how it makes me feel inside so for a moment imagine how our Heavenly Father feels when we come to Him when He calls us.
Even if I don’t call and they spontaneously come to me, it makes me happy … so I reckon that if children can come to Jesus
so can we
so can I.
Anytime
is a good time.

28 “Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. 29 Simply join your life with mine.
