Looking at ‘Lock-down’

during these difficult days in the current crisis
where it seems that a swirling storm is brewing
I have seen some
secretly squander seconds in front of a screen
bowing to a box
-a black box that has the ability to darken ones soul
not realising that seconds add up as they slip through
the hourglass’s narrow neck
-time never to be retrieved.

We need to make sure in 'lock-down'
that we don’t get locked up
in a prison of pretence
worshiping idols
that aren’t made out of gold but silver
- silver screens
scream into the soul of the one watching worthlessness
while the Worthy One watches them waste His priceless gift of life…

The silver screen has become the destination some travel to
because they cannot travel anywhere else
-an alter that stands larger than life in lounges and living rooms
where people pay homage, honouring escapism
with their most valuable commodity
-time.

We check our bank balances to keep an eye on our finances
but what about the sands of time
draining down
into the bottom bit of our hourglasses?

You may think that I’m making a mountain out of a molehill
-measuring moments
but I have seen my God move mountains before
to escape from an enemy.
