African Autumn
At the bottom of high rise rows of trees
Autumn leaves layer the forest floor
A carpet of colours….
here and there a faded green leaf
pokes its head out
between burnt orange, crackling dried yellows, rich mud-brick reds, touched by different shades of wood-browns; burnt umber, earthy ochre, tawny tans, amazing ambers
announcing Autumn’s appearance …
A touch of sunlight kisses the colourful leaves
as the morning mist melts over the meadows, nearby….
Autumn’s breath stirs up the winter wind
covering the world with a white blanket
that is far from warm….
wild whirlwinds blow the last of Autumn away!
Then winter sings the world to sleep for a season….
