Forever Faithful

Father
I thought that You would have put a stop sign on the pain
that would have stopped the rain running down our faces
as we work our way through the wreckages of relationships
-unexpected accidents occurring in slow motion over time...

I thought...

but then Your Words collide with the worries in my head
and I am able to stand on the sneaky snake’s head
who attempts to get into my thoughts
trying to tempt me not to trust You
-Your faithfulness
and I realise the reality once again
-we were never meant to handle heaviness
but to hand heavy loads over to You
to remember to
cast our cares on Him for He cares for us
so we can find rest for our souls
that are wary and weary from walking in this world
stained by sin, selfishness and self-centred souls
that make the road rough to travel as it unravels
and we have to dodge the potholes of pretence
slowing down for the speed bumps of stone-walling silence that surface
out of nowhere that look more like mountains in our minds
while travelling through this time
we need to take detours so that our peace stays protected.

Whether we wrestle with inaccurate accusations, abuse and abandonment
that cause deep disappointments
or dodge deliberate curveballs coming at us at the speed of light
that were hidden before in our blind spots
You remind us that You are
our Dependable Deliverer
and while we wait for Your deliverance
You are our Defence.

I trust You that the fabric of my story
will feel soft for hurting hearts
as You cloak us in coats of courage
as we stand up and say ‘no, not this time
silencing bullies who use violence to silence people
attempting to tempt us to stay downtrodden
beneath their thin veneer of insecurity
when You have lifted us out of what we thought was sinking sand
to stand
stand on the truth and let lies lie at our feet
at Your feet
as You remind us
that Heaven is Your throne and earth is Your footstool
You put things in perspective.
